Now Seeking Short and Long Term Studio Assistants

I run Cleveland's largest clay focused classroom space and I'm looking for a few more instructors to help make the studio even bigger and better. The studio offers classes for children, teens and adults both on and off the potter's wheel. I have twelve wheels, one slab roller and three electric kilns.

I am seeking talented and professional artists who are looking to expand their knowledge of running a successful fine arts based business.

Studio assistants are required to help 12 hours a week. Tasks include but are not limited to running independent studio times, cleaning, mixing glazes and slips, loading kilns, shipping artwork, helping at shows and managing inventory of studio supplies and artwork.

This is an unpaid position. In return students get 24 hour access to the studio (You may work during classes and workshops. The schedule will be explained during interviews). The only thing studio assistants pay for is clay. You are free to use any glaze materials and mix your own. Kiln firings are also included. Throughout the years different assistants have come to work with me and required things such as help with a business plan, organizing a portfolio for residencies or getting their feet wet in the Cle show scene. Iā€™m happy to help share whatever knowledge I can to get you the help you need too! This is a work trade arrangement and everyone should be learning throughout the process. In addition there are three studio shows in our building each year that you can participate in along with my once yearly Faculty and Student Show.

Short term assistantships last 3 months. It is a renewable position as well. Long term assistantships last one year and can be renewed for an additional year.

The next long term assistantship begins May 2019. Short term positions are on a rolling basis and applicants are always welcome to submit materials at any time!

Experience and requirements: Please submit a resume or CV with three professional references. I will be calling them! Also send along 5-10 images of your work and your availability. Email everything to
